Special: Queen at Sea

During this preview screening, there is an introduction by Dutch professor of neuropsychology Erik Scherder.

Amanda's mother Leslie's advanced dementia is driving Amanda and her stepfather Martin further and further apart. As Leslie becomes increasingly unable to make decisions for herself, the question arises of who is allowed, and ought, to decide over her life. Her husband, her daughter, or an institution?

While Amanda and Martin each try, from their own convictions, to do what's best for Leslie, they become ever more entangled in a painful conflict over love, care, and autonomy. Their choices carry consequences that reach far beyond the moment, forcing them to confront not only what is right for Leslie, but also the limits of their own responsibility.
